Bhramari pranayama

How to do bhramari ?

  • Sit comfortably on the floor in a cross legged position with the spine erect and close your eyes.
  • Now place your index fingers on your ears right at the cartilage.
  • Inhale slowly and comfortably & while exhaling, gently press your ear cartilage with your thumb, while making a humming sound like bee. 
  • Repeat the same procedure for 3 to 4 times for the sinus to get cleared.

Suryabedhi pranayama 

The authentic  meaning of  “surya” is sun & “bhedand” means to pierce. This pranayama rehabilitates  rhinitis & exterminates the germs in sinus region.

How to do suryabedhi pranayama ?

  • Sit comfortably on the floor in a cross legged position with the spine erect and close your eyes.
  • Now close your left nostril with your ring finger and little finger.
  • Breath in slowly and comfortably with your right nostril. 
  • After complete inhalation, close your right nostril, remove the fingers from left nostril and exhale slowly with your left.
  • Continue in this manner, breath in right, breathout left, for 1 to 3 minutes.

Simha mudra pranayama

Literal meaning of “Simha” in Sanskrit is “lion”. It is termed so because, the facial gestures while executing this breathing practice, simulates those of a lion.

How to do simha mudra pranayama?

  • Sit comfortably on the floor in a cross legged position with the spine erect.
  • Now position your palms steadily on the knees, pressing your palms on your knees with the fingers extended, lean forward a bit, grip this position and breath in.
  • Breath in slowly and gradually through your nose.
  • Breath out forcefully through your mouth while making a noise that sounds like “haa”.
  • While exhaling, as you are opening your mouth, expand your tongue as much as possible, as if trying to touch the chin.
  • Repitition of this pranayama 10 times is advantageous.
